Dr. Jeong Eun Lee

Jeong Eun Lee, Ph.D. is a Korean contemporary Ottchil artist. Her fascination with the artistic medium Ottchil (옻칠), a Korean traditional lacquer art, began when she explored various artistic mediums at Sookmyung Women's University in South Korea. Afterwards, she studied Urushi, a Japanese traditional lacquer art, at the Tokyo University of Arts in Japan where she received her M.A. and Ph.D. In recent years, Dr. Lee has explored the re-contextualization of everyday objects through Ottchil, using such themes as junk food and flowers. Currently, she is teaching at Sookmyung Women's University.
